We know plans change. Our cancellation policy is fair, clearly tiered, and applies to every direct booking made through this website. Bookings made via Airbnb or Booking.com are governed by that platform's own policy at the time of booking.
Email hello@cumbriancoastcottages.co.uk with your booking reference. The cancellation takes effect on the date and time we receive your email, not the date of any later acknowledgement. Refunds are processed within 7 working days to the original card.
If you need to move your dates, contact us as early as possible. Where the cottage is available and the new dates are within 12 months, we will normally allow one free date change. Any difference in nightly rate (peak vs off-peak) will be charged or refunded.
If we are unable to provide the cottage due to events outside our reasonable control (severe weather, flooding, utility failure, government restrictions and similar), we will offer either a credit for a future stay or a refund pro-rata to the unused portion, at our discretion.
If you are unable to travel because of personal circumstances (illness, transport disruption, family emergency, change of plans), the standard tiers above apply. We strongly recommend that all guests take out travel insurance covering cancellation and curtailment.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your booking, we will refund all sums paid by you in full. Our liability is limited to a refund of the booking value and we will not be liable for consequential losses including travel costs, alternative accommodation or loss of earnings.
